Daniela + Michael are getting hitched and you're invited

We found each other (finally) and we want to celebrate with you!
The ceremony will be on the beach. It will be on the far right in the photo above, which was taken by Michael's grandfather Curtis E. Avery. Smart guy with quite an eye -- just like his grandson, says Daniela.

So yes, we'll be on the sand and in the sun! Please wear comfortable clothes (or go barefoot, it's Oregon). Be fabulously dressy or be casual; it's really up to you. It might be windy and you also might want a hat. There will be chairs available for the duration of the ceremony. A friend who also happens to be a rabbi will perform the ceremony.

July on the Oregon Coast is usually sunny, dry, and gorgeous. It's usually warm but not hot -- highs in the high 60s or low 70s during the day, lows in the 50s at night. Of course, it might be cold, gray, or rainy, who knows? Bring layers.

There will be roughly 20 people in attendance. We want our day to be informal and we want to share time with each of you.

After the ceremony, we'll have an informal dinner and a party. Details to come. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available and of course, Michael will make sure there is way too much wine.

19 July 2026, 5 pm
Manzanita, Oregon

Getting here: The closest airport is in Portland. We recommend renting a car. North Coast Express is a bus option will bring you directly to Manzanita from Portland. We'll provide details about how to get to the ceremony spot closer to the day. It will be on the beach, a short walk from a parking spot.

Where to stay: Book your accommodations NOW. Really, don't delay! It's a very popular spot in the summer. If you'd like any advice on spots to stay, we're happy to talk about it with you. There are abundant Airbnbs and VRBOs in Manzanita and Neahkahnie. You can also look in nearby Arch Cape or Nehalem if you have a rental car. If you're on a tight budget, there's a campground in Manzanita and Seaside has less expensive places to stay (but the drive to Manzanita can be a real drag). Some hotels we recommend in Manzanita include: Coast Cabins, Sunset Surf, and Ocean Inn.

About your invitation: I made each invitation from flowers, berries, rocks, shells, bones, and one ancient petrified pine cone, all gathered from the beach where we will be wed. I sewed silk thread into the perimeter of each piece. I’ve been working with silk lately and love its dual qualities: fragility and strength, durability and evanescence. I’m drawn, too, to its origin in a cocoon, each one woven from a single continuous thread in which transformation occurs. Every invitation is unique. Pictured above, they rest together on our patio on an unseasonably dry, sunny winter day.
